Political Rant

The Presidential campaign has been growing increasingly nasty in the past few days especially since Senator McCain and Governor Palin have began to step-up personal attacks on Senator Obama. The polls have shown that Sen. Obama is gaining ground in battle states and it seems like with each personal attack and every single derailment from the issues is causing Sen. Obama to gain ground.

My theory for this particular situation is that Americans are simply fed-up with smear campaigns, they're tired of personal attacks, they want to hear about the issues. They want to hear where the candidates stand and I personally commend Sen. Obama for his lack of personal attacks on the two, while Sen. Obama has launched some personal attacks, I believe the scoreboard for smears and personal attacks shows McCain/Palin well ahead of Obama/Biden.

However, I think the most recent attacks are worn-out and petty. The real estate deal: if you could get a deal on some property through a shady business person and it be legal...would you do it? Yes. The 60's radical: if you're on a comitee or work within an organization with an individual does it mean that you and that person share the same views? No. The pastor: Can you listen to someone's rhetoric and have a different point of view? Yes. Do I think Sen. Obama shares the views of the radical pastor mentioned above? No. I think Sen. Obama is far too intelligent to have such ignorant views. Sen. Obama gave a speech on racism and the pastor drama earlier this year. It was the right thing to do. Time and time again Sen. Obama has spearheaded the remarks made by the McCain camp and has not allowed the smears to continue. However, McCain and Palin have ignored the rumors and smears and have continued to skirt around the issues.

Gov. Palin thinks that banning books is ok. She thinks that abortion is wrong in all cases. She thinks that abstinance is the way to go, but couldn't instill those values in her own family. She thinks that global warming has nothing to do with the pollution caused by man. She thinks that we should drill for oil and apparently do nothing to develop alternative energy. She thinks that her income, her home, and her life are examples of the "middle class" which they are far from. She thinks that sitting on the city council and being Mayor of a town of 5k, and being Governor of a state of less than 700k, and holding a bachelor's degree in journalism qualifies her for the vice presidency, and qualifies her to be a "heartbeat away" from the presidency. I disagree. I live in a town about the size of Wasilla, in a state with far more than 700k residents, and I would never trust the United States to any local Mayor, any local councilman or anyone in local government. I have read all about Gov. Palin and I disagree with her views.

When Gov. Palin gave her initial speech, declared herself as a pitbull, hockey mom, and accomplished polititian that had done so much for Alaska that she should receive some kind of award...I was awkwardly curious. However, I read and researched her and all of the rebuttals of her speech and realized that she was no more than a pretty faced liar. She said that there was an answer to the "18 million cracks in the ceiling"....which was an insult to Clinton supporters. Palin is no Clinton, in fact, they share no more than boobs and a vagina.

I thought that the VP debate showed Biden as someone who knew what he was doing, knew his facts and was able to call out Palin on numerous issues and show that Palin didn't know what she was talking about other than stating that McCain was a maverick and she was from an energy producing state.

I think the choice is clear. I think Palin is a choice for those who are as ignorant as she is.
